Sangit Kala Mandir has given Kolkata its first-ever platform for citizens to express their cultural and creative ideas. Over the years, it has grown from strength to strength, becoming one of the city's proudest landmarks.
National and International performing artists regularly perform here, making it a prestigious venue for the arts. For aspiring young talents, it has become the mainstay and creative space to showcase their abilities in the performing arts. Sangit Kala Mandir itself organizes a diverse array of programs and events spanning spiritual, educational, and entertaining themes.
The institution takes immense pride in the talented children and youngsters who have gone on to achieve great success in life. In recent times, the stage has been graced by eminent artists like Amitabh Bacchhan, Paresh Rawal, Javed Akhtar, Arijit Singh, Sonu Nigam, Hariharan, Nitin Mukesh, Alka Yagnik, Shreya Ghoshal, Kailash Kher, Sunidhi Chauhan, Abhijit Bhattacharya, Udit Narayan, Kumar Sanu, Madhuri Dixit and Javed Ali to name a few.
The objective of this cultural institution is to boost the artistic potential of original performers and prepare them to present their skills to the world with confidence and ease. Music, drama and other performing arts are showcased regularly, allowing the youth unlimited access to the world of entertainment.
Our cultural institution moves purposefully towards a positive direction, where performing arts and artistes are given greater priority in society. We also welcome the growing globalism of the entertainment industry and it reflects in our inclusion of contemporary styles with the traditional format.
The unparalleled success of SANGIT KALA MANDIR was truly remarkable, with a membership demand so high that applicants had to be placed on waiting lists. Recognizing this overwhelming enthusiasm as a driving force, Syt. B.K. Birla proposed the creation of a sister organization to accommodate the growing list of enthusiasts. Thus, in 1972, Surabhika was born.
Surabhika quickly became synonymous with cultural excellence. The organization provided an additional platform for members to explore and express their artistic talents. They expanded the reach of SANGIT KALA MANDIR, ensuring that more individuals could participate in the vibrant cultural scene and contribute to the preservation and promotion of our rich heritage.
